our history

Our History

We've been here for over a century

11th November 1920, Silvio Marengoni (todays owner grandfather and eponymous) after his comeback from United States rent "Podere Casa Bianca" an 11 hectar of arable land where wineyard are located. During 1980 the area is acquired and, during the nineties, present owners (Silvio and his wife Adele) together with their sons Lino and Flavio, turn the farming business completely to viticulture, planting new vineyards, building a new cellar and renewing the old porch. The older cellar, right beneath owner's home, is still used to present day as a place for ageing the finest wines in old oak wood barrels.

Our Vineyards

From Ancient Red Soils district

Our vineyards are located close to our winery at an altitude between 230 and 320 meters AMSL facing South and West. Our soil is mainly a clay-silt one with noticeable rock presence, this soil type gives our graeps freshness and acid strenght so we can get wines with intense colors, aromatic taste and concentration. "From this lands come some of the most relevant seasoning red wines in this province" Vittorio Barbieri (Atlante del Vino Piacentino).

Local Tradition

Flavours from our hills

We always use sustainable ecofriendly products for our vineyards protection and, since 2020, we're working as an "organic" company. All maintenance and operations on our grapes are manual. Even harvest is manually managed by our team (a dozen people) collecting grapes with open 15kgs cask directly taken to our winemaking press; a soft pressing for white wines while red grapes are de-stemmed and fermented in concrete tank for 10-15days. After some decant operations, wines suitable to become sparkling ones are bottled in spring, other wine selections are set for ageing in oak barrels for 2-3 years.

Simply Wine

Tradition is: love for the places where our grapes grow and respect for flavours that always have been our products distinguishing feature

Doc Gutturnio Frizzante G842

the best known among Piacenza wines

Blend of grapes from Barbera and Croatina (locally called Bonarda). We produce this wine since 1996, before that time Ponte dell'Olio area was not considered a DOC Gutturnio, we had DOC Barbera and Bonarda as well as Rosso Casa Bianca as table wine. Sparkling ruby red wine, tasty and structured, ideal with fatty and flavorful dishes. G842 is the land registry code for Ponte dell'Olio area.

pearly white

Obtained from the autochthonous vine of the same name, it's one of the best known vines in the Piacenza area. With a greenish color and floral scent, it has a nice drinkability and flavor, excellent with Piacenza cured meats and fish-based first courses and as an aperitivo.

Valnure

Doc Colli Piacentini Valnure Frizzante

This is the wine we are most fond of, it was awarded the DOC in 1987 but we've been producing it with this name since the 60s. Produced with native grapes of the area, mostly with Malvasia di Candia and then with Ortrugo and Trebbiano Romagnolo. Very aromatic but fresh at the same time, salty and very drinkable, excellent as an aperitif and with Piacenza cured meats.

Lepri

Un mare di foglie 2026 - Vini Marengoni at Villa Pamphili, Rome

Join us in Rome on 24th January 2026, in the beautiful setting of Villa Pamphili: we will be pouring our new vintages in the heart of the "eternal city".

The latest harvest

2025 harvest in the Marengoni vineyards at Ponte dell'Olio

The 2025 vintage saw a spring with good rainfall and a regular flowering, followed by a dry but not excessively hot summer. The result is a set of very aromatic and well-structured wines.

Recent vintages

Barbera and Croatina black grapes from the Marengoni vineyards

2024: The rainiest spring on record: a small crop, and we only produced ready-to-drink sparkling wines.
2023: A balanced vintage with regular rainfall, giving structured and highly drinkable wines.
2022: Early flowering and a hot summer up to July, then a series of storms cooled the vines down and ripening was perfect. Intense, concentrated wines with excellent ageing potential.
2021: Regular flowering, a very hot summer with little rain: important, very rich wines.
2020: Regular flowering and a warm summer, giving balanced and easy-drinking wines.
2019: Uneven flowering and a summer swinging between heat and rain, with substantial thinning: fresh whites and more complex reds.
2018: Regular flowering, a warm vintage with regular rainfall, giving juicy wines suitable for ageing too.
